Open PMO
Terms of Use
Please read these terms carefully before using Open PMO.
Last updated: 27 June 2026
Important: These terms limit Open PMO’s liability for how you use our templates, guides, and services. By using this website you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site. |
1. Who We Are
Open PMO (“we”, “us”, “our”) is operated by Dan Gripton, a PMO consultant based in the United Kingdom. We provide free project management templates, learning guides, and optional paid consulting services through this website (openpmo.org).
You can contact us at: dgripton@openpmo.org
2. Acceptance of These Terms
By accessing or using openpmo.org — including downloading templates, reading guides, or submitting an enquiry — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. These terms apply to all visitors, whether or not you subscribe to our mailing list or engage our consulting services.
3. Free Templates and Resources
3.1 What we provide
We make a library of project management, business analysis, and PMO governance templates freely available. These are provided to help you in your work, not as professional advice.
3.2 Licence to use
We grant you a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to download, use, and adapt our templates for your own internal business or personal purposes. This licence permits you to:
- Download and use templates within your organisation
- Adapt and customise them to fit your needs
- Share adapted versions with colleagues within the same organisation
This licence does not permit you to:
- Resell, sublicence, or redistribute our templates — adapted or otherwise — for commercial gain
- Present our templates as your own original work in a commercial context
- Upload our templates to other template libraries or platforms without our written permission
3.3 Copyright
All templates, guides, illustrations, and written content on openpmo.org are copyright © Open PMO. All rights reserved. The fact that our content is free to use does not mean it is free of copyright. We retain full intellectual property rights in all original materials we create.
If you wish to use our materials in a way not covered by the licence above — for example in a publication, training course, or another website — please contact us first at dgripton@openpmo.org.
4. Learning Guides
The guides and articles on openpmo.org are written by experienced practitioners and reflect general best practice at the time of publication. However:
- They are provided for general information and educational purposes only
- They do not constitute professional project management, legal, financial, or business advice
- Your specific situation may require a different approach to that described in our guides
- We do not guarantee that following our guidance will achieve any particular outcome
You should exercise your own professional judgement when applying anything from our guides to your work.
5. Limitation of Liability
This is the most important section of these terms. Please read it carefully. |
5.1 No liability for business outcomes
To the fullest extent permitted by English law, Open PMO and Dan Gripton accept no liability whatsoever for:
- Any loss of revenue, profit, or anticipated savings
- Any loss of business, contracts, or commercial opportunities
- Any damage to your organisation’s reputation or relationships
- Any project failure, delay, or cost overrun
- Any decisions made in reliance on our templates, guides, or advice
- Any indirect, consequential, or special loss of any kind
This applies whether or not we were advised that such losses were possible and whether your claim arises in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise.
5.2 “Use at your own risk”
Our templates and guides are tools to assist you — not a guarantee of any outcome. How you use them, the decisions you make based on them, and any consequences of those decisions are entirely your own responsibility. You are the professional in your organisation and you are best placed to judge whether any template or approach is suitable for your specific circumstances.
5.3 Our maximum liability
Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of this website shall not exceed the greater of:
- The amount you have paid us in the preceding 12 months (if any); or
- £100
5.4 Exceptions
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under English law.
6. No Warranty
Our templates and guides are provided “as is” and “as available” without any warranty, express or implied. We make no warranty that:
- Templates are suitable for your specific purpose or jurisdiction
- Guides reflect the most current best practice at the time you read them
- The website will be available at all times or free from errors
- Downloaded files are free from viruses or other harmful code (though we take reasonable precautions)
It is your responsibility to check that any template you use is appropriate and legally compliant for your situation and jurisdiction.
7. Professional Services
Where you engage Open PMO for paid consulting work (day rate engagements), separate terms will be set out in a written proposal or statement of work agreed between us before work begins. Those terms will govern that specific engagement and take precedence over these Terms of Use in the event of any conflict.
Any quotes, proposals, or estimates provided before a formal agreement is signed are indicative only and do not constitute a binding offer.
8. Your Responsibilities
When using openpmo.org, you agree to:
- Use the site and its content lawfully and in accordance with these terms
- Not attempt to copy, scrape, or systematically extract content from the site
- Not use the site in any way that could damage, overburden, or impair it
- Ensure that any personal data you share with us is accurate and up to date
9. External Links
Our website may contain links to third-party websites. These are provided for your convenience only. We have no control over the content of those sites and accept no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. When we do, we will update the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the website after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new terms. We recommend checking this page periodically.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of openpmo.org shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
